Vintage 1950's Benrus Teardrop Lug Brown Dial 10KGF Mechanical Men's Watch

This is a vintage Benrus men's wristwatch from the 1950s, most likely mid-decade (circa 1953–1957), based on the serial number and case design. The watch features a 10k gold-filled case with unique teardrop lugs and a richly patinated brown dial with applied gold numerals and luminous dots. The dial also reads “SHOCK ABSORBER,” which Benrus frequently used to denote the inclusion of an Incabloc or similar shock protection system for the balance wheel. It has a mechanical hand-wound movement, almost certainly Swiss-made, as was standard for Benrus at the time—even though the company was American, it often used Swiss ébauches. This example is in working order (though untested for long-term accuracy), with a new brown leather strap that nicely complements the aged dial and gold-tone case. There are light scratches on the acrylic crystal and some case wear consistent with age, but overall the piece maintains strong vintage charm.
